Spiritual experiences of the elderly in a day Hospital of the Almenara Network, in Lima, Peru

Objective: Analyze spiritual experience s of the elderly in a Day Hospital, of the Almenara Network, in Lima.
Introduction: The livings are experiencing that older adults live, come from within and are part of their character, spirituality based on beliefs and values is characterized by the relationship with itself, with the other, with nature and life.
Methodology: Qualitative research, descriptive, comprehensive, made with 10 older adults, the sampling defined by saturation of speeches. The technique was the interview in depth with a guide to interview semi structured, applied in two sessions, respecting the bioethical principles.
Results: three general categories were identified: recreating the conceptions of spirituality; spirituality in the practice of values and spirituality from the religiosity of the elderly.
Discussion: The first category defined as to approach God through prayer and religion, being a basic human need to promote quality of life. The second category, is referred to the practice of values considered transcendent, reflected mainly in the love and solidarity. The third category points out that spirituality provides the opportunity to be at peace with oneself and with others.
Conclusions: The spiritual experiences of older adults indicate that they want to live better, using what is left of life in the best possible way, relying on religion and the practice of values to preserve spiritual peace thus giving a favorable ageing.
