Deconstruction and reconstruction of nursing thought: its implication in public policies

Description of the topic: Currently it is necessary for nursing professionals to participate actively in public healthcare policies, recognizing it as a commitment to the practice of nursing in Mexico. Strengthening this participation could create new opportunities for the development of healthcare in our country from a nursing perspective.
Relevance: The elaboration of this paper originates from inquiries related to the meager active participation of nursing personnel within the sociopolitical framework of our society, which represents a social problem for the nursing profession overall. Likewise, it aims to describe the importance of such participation in the creation of public healthcare policies, as well as suggest proposals that promote a paradigm shift in nursing care.
Conclusions: Nursing has been in constant update over the course of recent years, becoming a protagonist in different areas of the healthcare practice. However, there is a need for a consolidation of knowledge in the socio-political branch, nursing requires a change of thinking towards seeking strategies which allow it to maintain participation within this area, thus contributing to the development of healthcare from a humanized and sustainable approach.
